Where to begin, hhhmmm ;0
Well, for me the whole experience of really living in another country than in Finland is the first for me! There are so many things which make these two countries to differ from each other. But in my everyday life, the focus is more related to the surroundings of my school, friends and family.
The life that I'm living here in Porto differs in many ways from my everyday life back in Finland. There I have my precious dog, Yoko, my friends which mean the world to me and of course my family which I couldn't live without! It is of course clear without saying that anybody who decides to go and actually live in another country, in different culture has to more or less "know" that there are somethings that one just have to get use to. I mean, at least for me the way that things are handled here e.g. in school world is very much different then in Finland. Here people are much more laid back and they attend not to worry too much...and this is good in a way but at least for me it can't get too "don't worry" cause then there is the threat of not doing anything.
When it comes to the student life here in Porto, I guess there are not too much of a differenses, I mean students are students no matter where you go in this planet...there's always gonna be trips, events, hanging, partying, more or less any type of social activities that one can think of.
I personally have to say that there has been some specific things which have surprised me while staying here e.g. there is like no heating systems in the houses or in the apartments eventhough it does get pretty cold in here. As a Finnish person, coming from one of the coldest places in the Earth it is still really strange to notice that people are freezing inside as well as outside =/. But this is s fact that everybody is dealing with, not just me, so in the end I just have to get use to it or head to the store and get myself some super heaters and stop freezing!!! ;)
Back to more positive experiences, which took place in the beginning of my journey was definately the wonderful beach in Salgueiros, next to our dear mobile- home...ouh, it was so lovely to be able to go to the beach everyday when ever and just bathe in the sun! ;)
Although, Finland is a country of thousands of lakes and yes, we have the see as well it is not entirely the same...nou nou! The landscape is soo different, I feel that even the sea when you look at it is different...might sound silly but in some way it is true but of course one has too see it to understand what I'm talking about ;)
What I really miss about Finland is its forest, lakes (which are totally frozen now), half a meter of snow, my cottage and of course Yoko!!! It is actually incredible how I have began to really understand how much I hold dear my roots. I began to realize that it is very true what people say that sometimes you have to look at things from a distance to be able to appreciate them more.
